TCS, Infosys, ONGC, Wipro, NMDC top gainers in last 100 days

Investors became richer by over Rs 6.4 lakh crore during the last 100  days, riding on the back of a resurgent market during the honeymoon period of Dr Manmohan Singh's government which promised stability.

According to a SundayET analysis of all listed companies of the NSE and BSE, investors benefited from an improvement in sentiments even as the report card on the UPA government's performance so far is not out yet. It completes its 100th day today.

Since May 22, the day Manmohan Singh took oath as Prime Minister, the top five wealth creating companies are Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys Technologies, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Wipro and NMDC. Three of the five belong to the IT sector.

Investors of these five companies became richer by Rs 154,845 crore in the same period. The stocks of Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys Technologies appreciated by more than 67% and 38% respectively. Also, ONGC scrip witnessed an appreciation of 13%.
In fact, the overall promoters' wealth too went up substantially during the same period. The market value of their holdings went up by 14%, which is equal to 363,601 lakh crore.
