Indian Space Research Organisation chief G Madhavan Nair has revealed that the Mars mission of India is scheduled to happen between 2013 and 2015.

"We have given a call for proposal to different scientific communities. Depending on the type of experiments they propose, we will be able to plan the mission," he said.

He added that the mission, which is at the conceptual stage, will be taken up after Chandrayaan-2.

"Once in two years you get an opportunity for the mission," Nair said.

ISRO Chairman is in Goa for presiding over the eighth international conference on low cost planetary missions.

According to him, like Chandrayaan-1, the mission to Mars will also be a low cost space odyssey.

Despite the fact that Chandrayaan-1 was on a two-year mission, ISRO chairman has revealed that nearly 95% of Chandrayaan's scientific goals were achieved in less than a year.
