1. You are late
If you cannot arrive on time for the interview, how can an employer take a chance on you and assume you won't be late once hired?

2. You arrive unprepared
If you really want a job, make sure you acquire the necessary information about the company BEFORE the interview takes place.

3. You come with a friend
Go alone. If a friend or a member of the family offers to give you a ride accept, but once you arrived thank them and tell them you will meet later.

4. You don't come at all

It is possible for an interviewer to forget the names of all the candidates, but what he or she won't forget are the names of the persons who did not show up. You never know where you might bump into each other.

5. You dress inappropriate

6. You smoke
If you are a smoker, don't light a cigarette during the interview. At the same time avoid food like union or garlic. They might represent a disadvantage, especially if the interview takes place in a rather crowded space.

7. You have a feeble handshake
This does not mean that you have to crush the interviewer's hand, it simply suggests that in order to give a good impression you need to have a firm, professional handshake. Also to be taken into account is the fact that you should not act differently in the presence of a woman. If the interviewer is a woman, a feeble handshake creates the same impression as in the case of a man.

8. You talk too much
Give the same amount of importance for listening as you do for speaking. Even though an interviewer wishes to have a candidate who talks and puts questions, be careful that you do not overpass a certain limit.

9. You talk too little
The fear of talking too much should not stop you from putting pertinent questions and conducting discussions in a professional manner. Even though you are not such a talkative person try to overcome this impediment.

10. You swear and use slang
Words and expressions that you perceive as 'cool' don't go well with an interview.

11. You act too colloquial with the interviewer
Each interview is like a meeting, consequently, each participant of this sort of a meeting wishes to keep his or her already planned agenda. Do not interpret the interviewer's friendly tone as an invitation to start a personal discussion.

12. You behave as an "-ist"
Racist, extremist or sexist words or expressions will attract nothing more than failure.

13. You talk on your mobile phone
There is no excuse for not being able to shut off your mobile phone for 30 minutes. If there is an emergency and there is no other way than you being disturbed, it would be better to reschedule the interview.

14. You avoid eye contact
Even though you might be shy, try to maintain eye contact as it symbolizes sincerity. By not doing so, there is a big chance that the interviewer considers you insecure and evasive.

15. You are arrogant and too self-confident
Companies seek for candidates that appreciate team-work. Being an egocentric person, one who does not accept criticism and who cannot work with his or her colleagues, won't get you the job.

16. You are desperate
Even though you really want the job, you should never let the interviewers see that you are desperate. You should better concentrate on emphasizing your enthusiasm for the company and on proving your work capabilities.

17. You tell lies
If you lie regarding your qualifications you might be hired. But, surely you will be dismissed once the lies are out.

18. You gossip your former work place
Even though your former work place was not a very pleasant one, it's better you do not narrate your interviewers those happenings. Try focusing on the responsibilities and the achievements that you had.

19. You criticize the company or one of its employees
Even though you might be acquainted from newspapers or television, with different Removed in which the company where you have applied might be involved you should not talk about them. If you are asked to give your opinion concerning this issue, act diplomatically and try to direct your answers towards solutions and not judgments.

20. You put questions evolving around amusement/ entertainment
Don't spend your time asking questions related to holidays, free days, bonuses or the structure of the company. Actually, if it's your first interview at a certain company, avoid putting these questions at all.
