This agreement allows Allied Systems to migrate to high performance servers and expand automation at their remote terminals.

IBM and Allied Systems Holdings, Inc., a provider of solutions and services for the North American automotive industry, have renewed and expanded their outsourcing contract for five additional years. This agreement provides a strategic updated platform of the Allied environment, allowing Allied to migrate to high performance servers and expand automation at their remote terminals to enhance overall competitiveness in the market.

IBM will leverage its global leadership in application management and infrastructure management solutions to support Allied's operations and business improvement initiatives, says the company. The new agreement follows the original contract which commenced April 2001.

"Our relationship with IBM has been a valued asset to our business and we look forward to continuing our partnership," said John Blount, senior vice president, chief administrative officer, Allied. "IBM has been a very flexible partner and has allowed us to take out cost and improve performance simultaneously."

"IBM's delivery model and technical and services excellence make us particularly strong in terms of helping clients transform their business, drive innovation and reduce IT infrastructure cost and risk," said Steve Welsh, vice president, travel and transportation industry, IBM. "Working with IBM, Allied will be able to focus on core competencies and optimise efficiency to reduce costs and adapt quickly for future growth."
