CHENNAI: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will roll out tutor-supported online courses in a slew of disciplines to equip Indian students and professionals with the practical technical knowledge needed in the workplace.

The first phase in September will have basic and advanced courses in the broad streams of engineering design and engineering management. "The initial course portfolio was finalised after months of discussionand provides a balance between technical and management skills," Sandeep Saxena, national manager, ASME India, told The Hindu.

"As the ASME online campus grows, we will continue to bring relevant courses, based on customer needs and demands," he said. Participants can register online at ASME's India eLearning campus, which functions as a virtual classroom, from any part of the country. The first e-learning session begins September 14.
