Local school adopts Abacus
KARIMNAGAR: In order to train the student community to learn maths without using a calculator, the Challenger High School in Karimnagar town in collaboration with Universal Abacus of Hyderabad had conducted an orientation programme on Monday, on use of Abacus tool to learn arithmetic.
Universal Abacus directors Y. Padmaja and V.R. Reddy dwelt upon the importance of learning Abacus to improve the students' mental abilities, speed and accuracy in solving problems, listening skills, creative and imaging skills, etc.
A student from Hyderabad, Venkatesh, demonstrated before the students calculating big problems without using pen and paper.
He solved several problems in multiplication, addition, subtraction, division, etc. within seconds and won accolades from the audience.
School director Venkateshwar said that they had decided to introduce Abacus education to the students of the school from second to seventh standard to help them understand mathematics with ease.
Venkateshwar said that they would regularly conduct classes on Abacus after school hours.
