'Primary education is vital for growth of child'

VISAKHAPATNAM: The need for strengthening primary education was stressed by the speakers at a meeting organised by the Gayatri Vidya Parishad at its Degree College premises here on Sunday.

Representatives from a number of service organisations spoke.

Founder president of Bhagavthula Charitable Trust, B. Parameswara Rao, who was the chief guest, said that primary education was the first step for the development of the child.

He pointed out that only about 20 per cent of the children were doing well at the primary level.
Rally proposed on Aug. 14

With a view to creating awareness about the importance of primary education, a huge rally was proposed to be organised on August 14.

Service organisations, representatives from schools and colleges would participate, Dr. Parameswara Rao said. Secretary of the Parishad, P.Somaraju expressed concern over the deterioration of standards at the primary level.
