School doubles up as dhobi ghat!
KADAPA: Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Officer K. Ramesh Kumar pulled up teachers of a primary school at Nabikot here on Friday for not apprising him that a carpenter and washer man's families were using a classroom in the school without permission.
Warning the carpenter and washerman to remove the wooden materials and clothes from the classroom immediately, he said a case would be filed with the police if they did not vacate the room.
The school has four teachers for a total strength of 48 students but the teachers were failing to ensure good results, he said expressing ire at the teachers during an inspection.
He spoke to parents of students and advised them to question teachers on their children's academic performance in monthly academic monitoring meetings. He enquired about the grants and expenditure and examined the bills.
Mr. Ramesh Kumar also inspected primary schools at Sastrinagar, Police Lines and Santhinagar here.
Municipal corporator Suresh urged the project officer to ensure expeditious completion of a classroom in the school at Sastrinagar.
When teachers of the school at Santhinagar apprised him that absenteeism among students was high as parents took them during visits to other places, he asked Mandal Education Officer Syamalamma to send proposals for setting up a seasonal hostel.
