TechM BPO to hire 2,000 in Kolkata

Tech Mahindra’s BPO arm will hire 2,000 people over the next 3-4 months, a majority of this at its new Kolkata facilities. This hiring spurt is a result of recently signed deals.

According to sources the BPO sector is recovering faster than the IT sector and Tech M has recently closed two large deals this quarter, one from a first-time outsourcer.

While commenting on weather Satyam BPO’s employees would be absorbed into Tech Mahindra’s BPO, SV Sriram, head of BPO operations, Tech Mahindra BPO said the company does not have any such plan in the immediate future. “Except for a few top-level changes at the entity level, there hasn’t been any other change.” This according to a report published in the Financial Chronicle.

At present BPO contributes to around 5-7% of Tech Mahindra’s total revenues. The company is targeting to reach 10% of the total revenues in the next 18 months.

Tech M has over 4,000 employees at the moment spread over four other centres in Noida, Pune, Chandigarh and Chennai. The company, which primarily services the telecom sector, is not looking to diversify its business because of a probable future merger with Mahindra Satyam’s BPO.
