Students urged not to ape West

KADAPA: Celebration of festivals such as 'Raksha Bandhan' will help in keeping the Indian culture and traditions alive, district Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar said on Wednesday.

Celebrating festivals in schools would motivate the students to learn about India culture, he said when students of Gems High School at Nagarajupet tied 'rakhis' to him. He presented sweets to the students. Director of the School M.A. Khan and headmaster Abdul Rehman and teachers participated.
Safeguard

Thanking students of Pushpagiri High School who tied 'rakhis' to him, the Collector advised students not to ape western culture, but comprehend and safeguard Indian culture by celebrating festivals.

The Collector's wife Amrutha Kumar presented sweets to the students.

Superintendent of Police (Administration) L.S. Chowhan said 'Rakhi Pournima' would strengthen the bond between brothers and sisters.

The students also tied 'rakhis' to in charge Joint Collector C.H. Mohana Rao. School Director M. Vivekananda Reddy, coordinator Girija and teachers participated.
