Panel to study VMC pact sought

VIJAYAWADA: The Real Energy, an energy saving company, came under fire from the opposition CPI (M) once again. The CPI (M) demanded the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation constitute a committee to study the implementation of the agreement entered into with the VMC by the Real Energy.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, CPI (M) floor leader Ch. Babu Rao alleged that the Real Energy had failed to save energy as promised. There were no real savings in energy for the Corporation, but the bills were still being paid. The VMC was paying the bills though the agreement did not come into force.

Hence, there was a need to constitute a committee of experts, public representatives (floor leaders) and the officials to study the issue, he said. CPI (M) corporators D. Kasinath, K. Ramu also spoke.

Tributes paid
Floral tributes were paid to former Minister Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao on the occasion of his 83rd birth anniversary, at the office of PCC secretary Kolanukonda Sivaji in Gandhi Nagar, here on Tuesday. Addressing a gathering, Mr. Sivaji said that Krishna Rao had set high moral standards in his political career as an MP, MLA and Minister. PCC secretary Akula Srinivasa Kumar and Vijayawada Krishna Super Bazaar chairman Adapa Nagendra participated.
