School uniforms distributed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of its social welfare initiatives, Technopark-based RM Education Solutions India (RM ESI) distributed school uniforms to 11 students of Government Lower Primary School Karichar, Kaniyapuram, recently.

The uniforms were handed over by RM ESI managing director Chris Chements. He spent an hour interacting with the school's students and teachers, a press note issued here by the company said.

It was after learning about the company's support to the government school at Kazhakkuttom since 2007 that the headmistress of the Karichar LP school approached RM ESI for assistance. Last year, the company had helped in buying equipment for the science and computer lab at the school.

The press note quoted company chief executive officer Connell Viegas as saying, "I see this as part of our social responsibility and being in the education field, we are very keen to see our kids grow up to be good citizens. We would like to do our bit to contribute to their learning process."

The Karichar school sent the company a letter of appreciation. Now, the staff of RM ESI plan to help out the students at the school by training them to use the IT equipment in the school's computer lab. They also hope to contribute to the development of the children's soft skills.

A majority of students at the school are from economically backward sections of society, a press note said. Founded in 1973, RM ESI is the leading supplier of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions to many institutions in the U.K.

RM opened its off-shore development centre — RM Education Solutions India Pvt. Ltd (RM ESI) — at Technopark, here in February 2003, the press note said. By the end of 2009, the company expects to employ 300 persons at the Technopark centre, the press note added.
