CHILDLINE puts up complaint boxes in city

SALEM: CHILDLINE, which has been waging a war against trafficking of children, particularly girls in the district, has found friends in the City police who have joined hands with the organisation in the endeavour.

With the help of the police, the members of CHILDLINE, Don Bosco Anbu Illam and YWCA have installed complaint boxes at various places of public congregation including in New and Old Bus stands and Sooramangalam Post Office.

These complaint boxes are being kept at public places and people who do not have access to CHILDLINE telephone number 1098, can drop in details on children found loitering in the streets and in distress.

The boxes carry necessary information for people about child trafficking which is known to occur in Salem and surrounding districts.
Child welfare

Those who show interest in child welfare and safety could send complaints that would be collected after a week and processed.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Baskaran contributed 12 bill boards for Child Line while Pallapatti Police Station Inspector Annadurai distributed two complaint boxes.
