Admissions for veterinary varsity courses begin

BIDAR: Admissions to courses of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar, began on Saturday.

University Registrar M. Devraj told presspersons on Friday that the process would be completed on July 28. The academic year of the university would start on August 3.

Mr. Devraj said the university had received 2,371 applications from candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc and A.H); Bachelor of Technology (Dairy Technology) and Bachelor of Fisheries Sciences (B.F.Sc).

There are 293 seats available for admission to three courses offered by the university.

There are 196 seats available for BVSC spread over four colleges in Bidar; Bangalore; Shimoga and Hassan. Fifty-five seats are available for Dairy Technology in two colleges located in Bangalore and Gulbarga. Forty-two seats are available for B.F.Sc in Mangalore, he said.

The counselling for seat allotment would be held simultaneously on Bidar and Bangalore campuses through video-conference facility. The counselling for allotments of seats for general category was scheduled for July 27 and the counselling for allotment of seats under agriculture quota would be on July 28, the Registrar said.

Mr. Devraj said there would be three-day practical test for agriculture quota and the test would start on Saturday.

The results of practical test would be notified on July 24 and the same would be available on website www.kvasfu.edu.in.

Of the total seats available, 62 are reserved for agriculturist or children of agriculturist.
