City hospital gets intensive care block for dialysis

A state-of-the-art integrated dialysis-cum-intensive care block was inaugurated at Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre (MMHRC) here recently.

The new block houses a big dialysis unit that can take care of 25 patients at a time, a Renal Intensive Care Unit with advanced CRRT dialysis machine to provide dialysis for critically ill patients with low blood pressure and multiple organ failure, and an interventional nephrology suite where advanced nephrology procedures such as Permcath insertion, AV fistula creation and Angioplasty could be performed, said a press release issued by the hospital.

K. Sampath Kumar, Senior Consultant Nephrologist, S. Gurushankar, Vice- Chairman, MMHRC, and V. N. Rajasekaran, Medical Director, were present.
