Education of girl children stressed

The education of girl children is essential for women empowerment and thus national progress, Mayor C. Jayan Babu has said.

He was inaugurating the observance of World Population Day organised by the district health administration and the National Rural Health Mission here at the Women and Children Hospital at Thycaud on Saturday.

The theme for this year's World Population Day is 'Fight poverty: Educate Girls', encouraging developing nations to invest in women's health and education for achieving progress.

A seminar on population control, women's health and education and new methods of family planning was also organised on the occasion.
