IIT Kharagpur was the first of the IITs and remains the largest and the most diversified. Currently, the Institute is ranked as the best engineering college in the country. Established in 1951, it has been imparting scientific and technical education of the highest standards to the best and the brightest in the country for more than fifty years.

The Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur was established in 1993, and was the first management school to be setup within the IIT system. It was initiated by a distinguished alumnus and a Life Time Fellow of the Institute, Mr. Vinod Gupta, whose generous endowment was matched by liberal support from the Government of India.
