Students bagging prizes at cultural competitions

PUDUCHERRY: At a skating competition conducted by Puducherry Skating Club, S. Sachin studying in LKG at Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School, won the gold medal in rig and road race in the under 4 years category. He also bagged the overall championship trophy.

Yoganjali Natyalayam presented a special certificate of merit and a silver shield to L. Rageshkumar of Class VII for his completion of yoga training for five years. S. Thirumoorthy of Class IX won the bronze medal in the light heavy category conducted by taekwondo association.

School Principal Fr. M.S. John Bosco congratulated the prize winners in the presence of Vice Principal Fr. A. Arokiaraj.

Under the auspices of Archdiocesan Coaching Centre, the school launched weekend coaching classes for Standard XI and XII students from July 5. About 230 students from various schools in Puducherry have registered for the classes to prepare for Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research entrance examination and All India Engineering Entrance Examination.

The principal inaugurated the coaching classes and Senior Chemistry Lecturer S. Viswakumar was present.

Achariya Bala Siksha Mandir, Uppalam has introduced a teacher-student friendly programme. The students could benefit from this programme in subjects such as Mathematics, English and Science.

The school has collaborated with Hi-commands, Chennai for the programme which would ensure that every concept taught was delivered in a user-friendly manner.

Students of the school took part in the roller skating competition conducted by the Pondicherry Skater Club on June 27 and 28. V. Ruben Abrahem and Sishath Arya of Standard IV came first, V. Dinesh stood second, while S. Siva, S. Ishwarya, Kirthik V. Shankar of Class IV stood third.

Abinaya Sen of Class VII stood second in the first Tamil Nadu State Level Open Chess Tournament held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on June 27 and 28.

Students bag awards
Students of Blessed Mother Teresa Model Higher Secondary School at Nainarmandapam bagged several prizes at the inter-school cultural competitions – BOSCO Fest 2009 – conducted by Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

In English elocution, Dhivya of Class X stood first, followed by Karuna Sharma of Class XI in second position. Prajisha of Class VIII won a consolation prize.

Priya Sharma of Standard IX won the third prize in English essay writing. In Tamil elocution, Abhirami of Class XII won the first prize, Sarala of Class XI bagged the second prize and Ramalakshmi of Class IX stood third.

In Tamil essay writing, R. Janani of Class XII won the third prize, while Vigneswaran of Standard IX bagged the second prize in drawing. I. Shahashya Dharshini of Class IX and S. Sindhuja of Class VIII won the second prize in classical dance.

A team of Class XII students won the third prize in devotional song category, while a team of Class XI and XII students won the second prize in a fusion dance performance.

Manager of the School Fr. Paul Rajkumar congratulated the winners. A mass was held to celebrate the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul on June 27. Fr. Philomin Doss and Fr. M.S. Xavier were present. Cultural programmes were held to mark the occasion.
