British Council drive to woo students

VIJAYAWADA: The UK is today one of the most preferred destinations among young Indians to obtain quality education in order to meet their career aspirations. To provide an insight into why the UK is so preferred and explain the recent developments on the IELTS front, the British Council is organising a series of events in and around Vijayawada from July 2 to 4.

A seminar on 'Opportunities to study in the UK and IELTS' will be organised on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Gateway Hotel, M. G. Road. The seminar will bring students and parents up to date on educational opportunities in the UK, including scholarships, IELTS and information on student visas.

Registration
Students will need to register on the spot to attend the seminar, since limited seats are available.

Seating will be allotted on 'first come first served' basis. Entry to the seminar is free. The participants will also receive a copy of Club UK magazine, the official British Council magazine for Indian students and also have an opportunity to win some exciting prizes.

The British Council, as part of the ongoing 'Education UK' activity in south India, organised an 'Education UK Slogan Contest' for students in Vijayawada recently.

The prize distribution ceremony will be organised the same day at The Gateway Hotel from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. During the ceremony, the top three slogans written by the students will be announced and first prize (a laptop) and second prize (two iPod shuffles) and consolation prizes for all the 100 short-listed entries will be given. Participation in this event is only by invitation.

The British Council staff will also be visiting a few institutions in and around Vijayawada to provide information to students about the educational opportunities available in the UK, which will help them in their professional development and also provide information about the various partnership opportunities that are mutually beneficial to both institutions in India and the UK.
