IIT-JEE course content to be available at aspirants' doorstep

CHENNAI: A new initiative to take the course content for IIT-JEE aspirants to their doorsteps with the help of web technology, was launched on Wednesday, here. 'SmartLearn Web TV' is a venture to stream high-resolution videos of lectures by India's senior most professors and All India JEE toppers, direct to home. "This will hopefully lead to the reduction of distance in education. The best teachers knock the doors of the students' home helping them to learn at their own pace. The student could also have their own preferred timings and a study environment which suits them," said K.Swaminathan, CEO, SmartLearn.

Some of the JEE toppers, who were part of the project addressed the students, and meritorious students from a few schools were provided scholarships.

N.Lakshmi Narayan, Vice Chairman of Cognizant, said "If you want to develop meaningful content, the stake holders have to be involved. The students would enjoy the maximum benefit, only when students participate in the structuring of a course. He stressed on the fact that the latest technology solutions should be utilised to reach students in rural areas to provide them better opportunities. Apart from streaming high quality content through cyberspace, SmartLearn would also offer interactivity, Mr. Swaminathan said. A senior professor will mentor each student and there is 'Dial SmartLearn' facility for clarifying doubts at pre-schedules timings every week. There will also be a separate section of Video FAQs on the website. Details about the course, including the fees, are available on www.smartlearnwebtv.com.
