Physical education teachers hone their skills

Tiruchi: More than 300 Physical Directors and Physical Education Teachers government and aided high and higher secondary schools commenced the three-day process of polishing their professional acumen at the Boiler Plant Boys' Higher Secondary School in BHEL Township on Thursday.

As per the instruction issued by the Director of School Education, they are to undergo an orientation on various sports and games during the residential programme. The resource persons comprise three senior teachers who underwent the State-level 'train the trainer' programme conducted earlier in Tiruchi district, and a few experts, the Chief Educational Officer, K. Swaminathan, said. He inaugurated the programme in the presence of the District Educational Officers S. Manoharan, Kanchana and Malarkodi.

The day begins at 6.00 a.m. and ends at 8.30 p.m. for the teachers, including about 100 women. The three-day programme encompasses theoretical and practical sessions on volleyball, football, sports injury, asanas, track and field, hockey, kabaddi, and kho-kho. The practical sessions will be conducted in the sprawling Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
