Students get tips on personality development

WARANGAL: The students at the St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPIPS) sat glued to their seats as Dr. Jagannath Rao of Bangalore eloquently lectured on improving memory, self confidence and concentration.

Over 60 students studying first year B.Pharm filled the huge lecture hall and they listened in rapt attention as the speaker went on relating the daily life experiences and how they affect one's personality development. Most of the tips, though looked trivial but were important from the expert's point of view.

"Do not watch television while eating food. It will have negative impact on your personality. Eating positively is eating without any diversion," Dr. Jagannath Rao explained.

The interactive session proved beneficial to the students particularly those hailing from rural areas.

Speaking to The Hindu, institute director T. Jaipal Reddy said it was one of many initiatives taken by the SPIPs to benefit the students. "One rarely finds classes of this kind in other institutes here. We want our students face the interviews confidently and they should get equipped with skills such as, good body language, communication, articulation and basic writing," he said.

SPIP's principal Dr. V. Prabhakar Reddy said the institute's focus was on personality development and student seminars on related subjects besides the regular class work because the students hailing from rural area desperately needed them.

Personality development expert and Rajiv Gandhi Excellence awardee, Dr. Jagannath Rao said the students were very responsive from the beginning.

"Here, I found the students very sharp and active. They grasp things easily. They only need little guidance and tips," he observed.
