Applications as Independent Processes

An application can be implemented as an independent process (App-A and App-B in Figure 1‑2). When an application is relatively large in scale, it is implemented as an independent process, taking its maintainability into consideration. In this case, the proxy control is separated from the application, and inter-process communication is performed between the proxy control and application.
When a proxy control / application pair is regarded as being an "application unit," the specifications and structure of the communication between the proxy control and process can be designed and modified flexibly for each application, provided the specifications of the interface between the proxy control and HMI application remain unchanged.
