Nothing is impossible for them

NALGONDA: In a remarkable accomplishment, all the 19 visually-challenged SSC students of Nalgonda Residential School for the Blind run by Development & Welfare Association of the Blind secured first class in the SSC public examination this year.

Of the total 14 boys and five girl students who appeared in the SSC examination , I Rajyalaxmi, a native of Kattangur, topped among them by securing 488 marks. Speaking to The Hindu, the association general secretary P. Chokka Rao said that constant motivation by the staff and the determination of the students helped them to excel in the SSC examination.

The residential school for the blind is the only institution of its kind run by an NGO for the visually-challenged students in the entire Telangana, he said and added that free education from Class I to X and hostel facility was being provided to the visually-challenged students at the residential school.

"The government should set up at least one blind school in all the districts and ensure education in English medium to the visually-challenged students to enable them pursue higher studies and become self-reliant", he suggested.
