How to Dress for an Interview

It is said that, 'First impression is the last impression'. Same idea matters during an interview as well. First impression influences a potential employer so profoundly that it may even persuade the final judgment. As soon as you face your potential employer in an interview, the first thing he will notice in you is your dress and the way you are wearing it. So it is very important to dress professionally at the time of a job interview, even if you find the job environment is somehow casual.

Male Wear

In fact, the first impression matters a lot. If you wear a suit or tie, it will offer much better impression compared to if you wear untidy jeans and t-shirt. The selection of color also needs to be wise. The more sober it looks, the better it is. Choose navy or dark gray color for your suit. A long sleeve shirt will do fit. The socks should be dark in color. Wear conservative style leather shoe. You should know to limit the usage of aftershave. Some people simply do a mess at this area. A neat and professional hair style is always desirable. Your nail should be nicely trimmed. You should carry either a briefcase or portfolio.

Female Wear

If you are a woman, you can wear black, navy or dark gray colored suit and long suit skirt along with coordinated blouse. Avoid wearing short skirts during interview. Always remember no jewelry is better than cheap jewelry. Professional hairstyle is always appreciated. Neat and light makeup is needed. Dark-colored lipstick is not a good choice during interview. Your nails should be clean and properly manicured. Traditional shoes will do the rest of the jobs. Take a briefcase or portfolio to showcase your talent.

Non-desirables during Interview

Whether you are a male or a female, you should not chew gums during interview. Use of cell phone and i pod are strictly discouraged. It is always better to cover your tattoos if you have any. If you have many piercing, you should not use all of them.
