DRAM Looks to Low Power to Save Industry

A collection of top memory manufacturers formalized their commitment to developing a low-power DRAM for use in mobile devices. The DRAM also would be designed for bandwidth ranging from 200 Mbytes/s to 12.6 Gbytes/s, with either single or multi-port combinations.

Gartner said that its preliminary first-quarter DRAM rankings showed that DRAM market revenue fell to $3.6 billion, down 18.4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2008 and down 41.4 percent from a year ago.
