3D Realms Shutting Down?

Developer
3D Realms, makers of the much loved Duke Nukem series may be shutting down for good if internet rumors are to be believed. It seems that the studio's running out of funds and has already let quite a few employees go. Of course this comes as no surprise since we haven't seen them churn out anything since ten years except for a few screenshots and one badass video.

On the plus side, it seems Duke Nukem Forever may still see the light of day since the rights of that game now belong to publisher Take-Two who I'm sure will do something about it. Here's what they had to say to gaming blog Kotaku on the whole deal -

"It is the Company's policy to not comment on its contractual relationships, nor do we comment on rumors and speculation. That said, we can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title. In addition, Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever
