KATTAPPANA: About 300 representatives will participate in the State-level leadership training camp of the Kerala Aided Primary Teachers Union (KAPTU) to be held at Erattayar near here on May 7, 8 and 9. The camp aims to develop the organisational set up to the level of 'questioning the ills plaguing the educational sector in the State'.

Addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday, the organisers of the camp said that discussions on issues such as low-standard curriculum, spreading of atheistic ideas through text books, unscientific cluster meetings, ban on appointments, revision of pay-scale, permanent employment and the negative effect of the recommendations of Kerala Education Rules revision report will be held. The union's stand on these issues will be revealed at the camp.

The camp will discuss the 'unhealthy tendencies' developing in the sector. Brainwashing the young students to accept a particular ideology will be severely opposed and the camp will draw up the future course of action to 'save the educational sector,'" said P.T. Thomas, DCC president and chairman of the reception committee.

He said that the camp will turn into a programme to streamline ideas and create an awareness on the development taking place in

the educational sector. According to KPCC general secretary and patron of the reception committee E.M. Augusthy, a video film on the tourism prospects of Idukki and and major known and unknown tourism places will also screened as part of the programme. Accommodation facilities have been arranged for the 300 members, he said.

The camp will be inaugurated by V.M. Sudeeran, former MP , in which KAPTU president D.A. Hariharan will preside over. Mr Thomas will deliver the keynote address.
