VISAKHAPATNAM: Some 8,150 students from the district are appearing for the model EAMCET being conducted all over the State by the Student Federation of India (SFI) on Thursday.

It is being held in 360 centres in the State, including 43 in the district from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The EAMCET will be conducted in 17 centres whereas SFI is holding the model test in 360 centres.

EAMCET today at 725 centres

HYDERABAD: Record number of candidates would be appearing for the Engineering stream of the EAMCET this year which would be held on Thursday in 725 centres across the State. According to the EAMCET-2009 Convenor, LVAR Sarma, 3,77,758 candidates have registered for engineering stream while 65,630 registered for medical stream. The engineering test would be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while the medical test from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Prof. Sarma said that arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of the test.

There will be one invigilator for every 20 students and an observer for every 500 candidates. About 18,870 Invigilators, 755 Observers and 60 Special Observers have been appointed for the exam.

EAMCET-2009 key released

HYDERABAD: The EAMCET-2009 Committee has decided to award two marks for all the candidates in the engineering stream and one mark in the medical stream and value the papers for the remaining marks.

In the Botany paper, expert committee has decided to treat 1 and 2 as correct answers for question no. 20. In the Chemistry paper 1 and 3 would be treated as correct answers for question no 123.

EAMCET's preliminary key has been released and put on the website ' www.apeamcet.org.'

Career counselling for EAMCET candidates

VISAKHAPATNAM: This year, the annual career counselling programme organised by The Hindu-Education Plus for successful candidates of EAMCET will be held at two places Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.

In Visakhapatnam, the counselling session will be held on June 3 at Kalabharathi Auditorium. At Kakinada, it will be held on June 5 at Rangaraya Medical College Auditorium.

The session on engineering streams will be held between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and that of medical stream between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Students from neighbouring districts and towns like West Godavari, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram can participate at the nearest centre.

These centres apart, the counselling session will be held at 11 other centres across the State, touching almost all major centres like Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Warangal.

The sessions will be of immense help to students and their parents in choosing the right courses. Renowned academicians will throw light on the career prospects in different streams of engineering, medicine, architecture, pharmacy, dental, biotechnology and agriculture.

Registrations

Registered students attending the programme will be given a copy of an exclusive handbook consisting of articles on various careers written by senior academicians and the editorial staff of The Hindu. Registration fee is Rs.100. The registration can be done on phone/email, or in person.

The EAMCET results would be available on the website in the following format. For the students of engineering stream- Hallticket number, Name, father's name, gender, category, local area, mathematics, physics, chemistry, total and result would be available and the same format would be applied for students who appeared for medical stream.

Counselling for EAMCET candidates

The annual career counselling programme organised by The Hindu-Education Plus for successful candidates of EAMCET will be held at Kalabharathi Auditorium on Wednesday.

For spot registration, students who intend to join the engineering streams will have to be present at the venue by 9.30 a.m. Students who intend to join the medical stream will have to report at the venue by 1.30 p.m.

The session on the engineering stream will be held between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and that of the medical stream between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Three-day counselling for EAMCET aspirants begins

NELLORE: Mummineni's Counselling Services, a New Delhi based institution, has started three-day counselling for EAMCET students at Hotel Princess Inn in the city on Friday.

Students from different places attended the counselling on the first day and got their doubts clarified on possibility of securing seats in good colleges, courses having demand in the market, future employment opportunities and other details from the resource persons.

Programme organiser K. Yashovardhan Reddy said personal counselling was done for students and their parents on the first day and were enlightened on various courses and job opportunities in the market.

Resource persons from different places will participate in the seminars during the next two days and explain about the prospects for different engineering branches, he said.

Academicians Murali Chandra, K. Nagaraju, T. Ravi Teja and others were among those who gave tips to the students.
