Admission Notice 2009-10

(i) Full-time Integrated M.Phil – Ph.D. Programme with Fellowship

(ii) Full-time Direct Ph.D. Programme with Fellowship

(iii) Part-time Ph.D. Programme

The National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), a premier organization of its kind in South Asia, is engaged in capacity building and research in educational policy, planning and administration. NUEPA, which is fully maintained by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, offers Full-time Integrated M.Phil – Ph.D., full-time direct Ph.D. and part-time Ph.D. programmes of NUEPA cover all levels and types of education from both national and international development perspectives. NUEPA invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to its full-time integrated M.Phil – Ph.D and full-time direct Ph.D (34 seats); and Part-time Ph.D programmes (5 seats) for the year 2009-10. These will also include those qualifying from the M.Phil programme of NUEPA. While selecting the candidates for admission, NUEPA will follow all mandatory provisions in the reservation policy of the Government of India.

Admissions to full-time integrated M.Phil – Ph.D., full-time Direct Ph.D and part-time Ph.D programmes will be made purely on the basis of merit following the prescribed criteria of the University.

Fellowships
Each selected candidate for the full-time integrated M.Phil – Ph.D. and full-time direct Ph.D. shall be offered a fellowship of Rs 13000/- pm + contingency as per rules. The NET qualified candidates, who have been awarded Junior Research Fellowships by the UGC and who fulfill the required qualifications, are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Full-time programme
(A) (i) A candidate seeking admission to the full-time integrated M.Phil – Ph.D. programme shall have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST candidates) or its equivalent grade in Master's Degree in education, social sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university.
(ii) Candidates who are yet to clear their final examination at the Master's level are also eligible to apply provided they pass the examination as per eligibility conditions already laid down at (i) above and submit its proof at the time of interview.

(B) A candidate seeking admission to full-time Direct Ph.D. programme shall have an M.Phil degree in an area closely related to educational planning and administration and/or exceptionally brilliant academic record coupled with publications of high quality.

Part-time Programme
A candidate seeking admission to Part-time Ph.D. programme is required to meet the following criteria:
(i) Should possess the educational qualifications as mentioned in Para (A) (i) above;
(ii) Currently, should be in full-time employment;
(iii) Should be a senior level educational functionary/administrator with a minimum of five years work experience in teaching, educational planning and administration.

Mode of Selection

The University reserves the right to decide the number of seats to be filled in the year 2009-10; the criteria for screening of applications; and the selection procedure of candidates for admission to its full-time integrated M.Phil – Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes. The mode of selection of candidates will be as under:
(i) Initial short-listing of applications will be carried out on the basis of relevance and quality of the brief write-up (in the prescribed format) in the proposed area of research to be submitted along with the application form;
(ii) Short-listed candidates will be invited for second level screening through which the University will assess the general awareness of the candidates about the educational issues and their motivation to pursue research/

Please Note:
▪ Names of short-listed candidates who would qualify for written examination will be posted on www.nuepa.org by 12 June 2009 (afternoon)

▪ Those who qualify the written examination would be called for Face-to-Face interview. The list of these Candidates will be displayed at NUEPA Website as well as NUEPA Notice Board by 28 June 2009 (forenoon).

▪ List of Candidates who successfully qualify for provisional admission after the interview will be displayed at NUEPA Notice Board and NUEPA website by 06 July 2009 (afternoon)

How to apply
Candidates may apply in the prescribed form for admission to full-time integrated M.Phil – Ph.D and Ph.D. programmes of the University along with three copies of the brief write-up (in the prescribed format) on the proposed research topic of a contemporary issue within the broad framework of educational policy, planning and administration. For further details, please refer to the M.Phil. – Ph.D Prospectus, 2009-10 of the University. The application form and the Prospectus can be obtained from NUEPA by remitting a sum of Rs 200/- (Rs 100/- for SC/ST candidates) by demand draft in favour of Registrar, NUEPA, payable at New Delhi if required by post or purchased in person. The Prospectus can also be downloaded from our website: www.nuepa.org and DD of Rs 200/- (Rs 100/- for SC/ST candidates) should be attached with the application at the time of submission of NUEPA.
