IT training for primary teachers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 7,168 teachers have received IT (Information Technology) training as a part of introducing an IT course in the Upper Primary section, a release issued by the executive director, IT@School Project, has stated.

Of this, 3,991 teachers were trained before the beginning of the summer vacation and 3,177 candidates on April 20 in 158 centres across the State. The six-day training on free software was organised jointly by the IT@School project and the Sarva Sikha Abhiyan. The training also familiarised the teachers with educational CD's related to IT An additional batch of 17,539 teachers will be trained across 216 centres in June. Teachers will be able to select a training centre of their choice. A circular in this regard has been issued by the Department of General Education.
