Provide subsidy on school fee

NEW DELHI: Accusing the Congress Government in Delhi of turning a blind eye to the problems of school children and parents, BJP candidate from New Delhi Vijay Goel has demanded a subsidy from the Government so that the parents are not burdened with high school fees.

"When the Government implemented the Sixth Pay Commission's recommendations it knew well that the parents are going to be burdened with raised fees. The Government should have announced a subsidy in school fees right then. If the Government can offer private power distribution companies like NDPL and BSES millions of rupees as subsidy, why can't it offer subsidy on increased school fees?" said Mr. Goel.

Mr. Goel said the Congress is ruling over both Delhi and at the Centre and yet the standard of education in government schools is so bad that parents don't want to send their children there. At the same time, they are finding payment of private school fees difficult. Therefore, he demanded a subsidy on the school fees.

'Astronomical heights'
"On the one hand the prices of commodities are touching astronomical heights and on the other people are losing their jobs," said Mr. Goel, adding that the increased school fees are proving to be a nightmare for parents.

"The situation has led to a dilemma where parents are finding it difficult to cope with increased school fees but cannot take their children out of school either. The average citizen is finding it difficult to make two ends meet. The Congress has come up with the slogan 'sab ko rahat, sab ka dhyan' (caring for all, relief for all), but I want to know who is the government providing relief to, who is it caring for?" said Mr. Goel.
