BPO employee murder case solved

Bangalore: The Banasawadi police claimed to have solved the murder case of Infosys BPO employee Umesh Krishnan with the arrest of two, including the victim's wife.

Umesh Krishnan (27), a native of Erode, was found murdered at his residence at Nanjundappa Layout near Ramaswamy Palya in Banasawadi on March 2, 2009.

The police have arrested his wife, Honey Mary alias Anne Mary (24), and S. Bipin Kumar Singh (25) from Jharkhand.

Honey's alleged boyfriend and three other accused are absconding.

The police said she allegedly had her husband murdered so that she could marry her boyfriend who is working in Surat.

"The accused had wrapped Umesh's face with adhesive tape and he died due to asphyxiation. Honey and her boyfriend had planned to settle abroad," City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told the presspersons here on Tuesday.

Bipin was arrested in Chennai and Honey here on April 11. Two mobile phones, which were stolen from Umesh's house, have been seized from Bipin.

Umesh and Honey were from Erode in Tamil Nadu and Honey had married Umesh much against her will as she was already involved with a mechanical engineer in 2006. He got a job and relocated to Surat and she wanted to continue her relationship with him, Mr. Bidari said.

In her statements to the Banaswadi police on March 3, Honey had claimed some men had barged into their house around 4 a.m. and attacked them, tying them down and wrapping their faces with adhesive tape.

Later, she cracked under interrogation and confessed to her husband's murder along with her boyfriend, said another police officer.
