Students should learn to develop self-confidence

KRISHNAGIRI: "Self-confidence is the mantra for success in life. Students should learn to develop self-confidence and develop themselves in the field they choose," said Dr. A.K. Mani, professor and head of department, Regional Research Station, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Paiyoor near Krishnagiri.

Dr. Mani was participating in the annual day and sports day function of Arignar Anna Arts College in Krishnagiri on Saturday.

Diet control: He exhorted students to develop self-confidence. "Diet control will help develop self-confidence," he added.

He also explained to the students various avenues available for them in the agricultural research field. Dr. K.S. Purushotthaman, principal, Government Arts College (Men), told the students to develop communicative skills in English.

In this era of globalisation English, an international language, was the only window to the outside world, Dr. Purushotthaman said. He told them to improve their command of English by reading newspapers.

Dr. P. Ponramu, principal in-charge, read the annual report of the college.

College correspondent K. Pugazhenthi distributed prizes to the students who excelled in academic and sports activities.

N. Amutha, head of botany department, welcomed the gathering. G. Shantini, a student, proposed the vote of thanks.

There were cultural programmes by the students.
