Thanjavur: SASTRA University has been re-accredited with "A" Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission.

This is the maximum possible grade in the revised grading system of NAAC.

In 2002, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredited the university.

As the re-accreditation was due by NAAC, a team of experts visited the University. After making criterion-wise analysis_ viz. curricular aspects, teaching-learning and evaluation, research, consultancy and extension, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance and leadership, innovative practices, institutional strengths, challenges and opportunities _ the university has been re-accredited.

The Accreditation Certificate Award function was held on March 8 at NAAC Campus, Bangalore, and the accreditation certificate of NAAC was handed over by Prof. S. K. Thorat, Chairman, UGC, in the presence of Prof. Goverdhan Mehta, Chairman Executive Committee, NAAC, to Dr. S. Swaminathan, Dean (Sponsored Research) & Director, Centre for Nanotechnology and Advanced Biomaterials (CeNTAB), SASTRA University.
