Get ready for games and videos on Bollywood stars

After developing games and videos on sports icons such as cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, mobile content developer Nazara
Technologies is looking at acquiring rights to develop similar applications based on Bollywood stars like Katrina Kaif for mobile phones, CEO Nitish Mittersain said.

With its appeal to the youth, Bollywood presents a great opportunity for the firm, he added. The company will also launch gaming applications for phones using Google's Android platform in the overseas markets by the end of this month.

Nazara Technologies has also set eyes on other emerging markets such as the Middle East, where it already has a tie-up with telecom operator Etisalat. The company had earlier developed applications for the iPhone and has now set up a separate team to develop applications and content, including games and devotional content, for 3G-enabled mobile hand-sets. Nazara would also launch cross-platform gaming applications that would work both on the Internet and DTH.

Besides working with the existing players like Airtel and Vodafone, Nazara Technologies is also in talks with new entrants in the telecom space such as Shyam-Sistema and Unitech Wireless. Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital invested about $7 million in Nazara in 2007.
