The days of sticking reminder notes to the fridge door would soon be passi, courtesy a new high-tech calendar that sends text messages to family members.

Mobile phone company O2 has launched a multimedia device called Joggler along with messaging service designed to help families get more organised.

The Joggler, which goes on sale next month, is a touch screen device designed to be placed in the kitchen or living room, and connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

It is also capable of playing up to 100 videos or songs stored with its 1GB internal memory.

It works as a digital photo frame, enabling users to display up to 200 pictures on the Joggler, as well as play games, such as Sudoku.

The O2 Joggler will send text message reminders of events or appointments to family members.

Currently it will only send reminder texts to O2 handsets.

"We've developed the O2 Joggler with today's busy families in mind," the Telegraph quoted Alistair Johnson, marketing director of O2 as saying.

"It has been purpose built to help families better organise their lives," Johnson added.

O2 has also inked a deal with satellite broadcaster Sky to provide the latest news and sport headlines, along with weather forecasts and traffic reports.

The ability to listen to Internet radio through the device will be added in the coming months.
