ICET to be held on May 9

HYDERABAD: The process for this year's Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) will start with sale of applications from February 26 while the test would be held on May 9.

The ICET is conducted for admissions into MBA and MCA courses of 23 State universities and its affiliated colleges in the State and distance mode courses offered by some universities.

Candidates need to score 25 per marks to be declared qualified while there is no minimum pass mark for SC and ST candidates.

The last date for submission without late fee is March 28 and April 10 with a late fee of Rs. 500. Candidates can submit till April 17 with a late fee of Rs. 2,000.

Applications can be obtained on payment of Rs. 250 from all the head post offices in the State; post offices on the University campuses, and the eSeva centres.

Applications can be submitted either through post or online.

They have to be sent along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 250. Those who want to submit through online have to take print out of the filled-in application form and send it to the Convenor by post along with the Demand Draft. The State has 498 MBA colleges and 698 MCA colleges as of now and many more may be added of the AICTE clears the pending applications.

VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 2.50 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the Integrated Common Entrance Test 2009 being held all over the State on May 9 for admission into the MBA and MCA courses, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University and Chairman of ICET 2009 B. Satyanarayana said here on Thursday.

Every year the number of candidates has been raising by 10 per cent and with 2.12 lakh having appeared for ICET 2008, about 2.5 lakh candidates were expected to take this year's test, Prof. Satyanarayana said at a press conference he addressed along with Convenor and Principal of AU College of Engineering P.S.N. Raju.

This year the candidates are required to furnish the details of the university they had obtained their degree certificate and the annual income of their parents. These details would have to be entered in the integrated OMR (optical magnetic reader)-cum-ICR (image character reader) sheet. The income details would make things easy for the administration of the colleges as fee would be reimbursed to the students belonging to the economically backward classes from the next academic year. The candidates would also have to mention their identification marks as recorded in their SSC examination certificate in the OMR-cum-ICR sheet so that impersonation could be detected at the examination centres.

ICET 2009 would be held at 375 centres in the State and 20 Regional Centres, at Anantapur, Bhimavaram, Guntur, Hyderabad, Kadapa, Kakinada, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Nellore, Nizamabad, Ongole, Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Warangal and Visakhapatnam, to coordinate the examination centres in their respective areas.

The press conference was held on the eve of issue of ICET notification on Friday. The sale of application forms, each costing Rs. 250, would commence on Feb. 26 and they are available at all the Head Post Offices, Post Offices located in the campuses of universities and eSeva centres all over the State.

The application form can also be downloaded from the websites www.icet09.net and www.andhrauniversity.info which would also provide information on the test.
