Teaching methods
This refers to article "Need for change in teaching methods" (The Hindu. Jan. 28) We need solutions based on research so that the generation next is not left to the mercy of errors. How a teacher can play an important role in the classroom and outside is a vital question before the educationists. Some people are of the view that pre-primary education should be left to private enterprise while others feel that it should be the State's prerogative. Research is needed t make a comparative study of the two points of view taking into consideration the role played by the private and the public sector in other developed countries.

Constable's yeoman service
This refers to "Reaching out to the marginalised" (The Hindu Feb.3) Malisetty Venkata Ramana , a police constable is rendering yeoman service to society by cremating unclaimed bodies, donating blood, helping the inmates of orphanages and many such noble deeds. If every citizen does voluntary service I am sure the oppressed classes would lead a happy and contended life as contentment is the greatest wealth to an individual.
