TCS CEO Mr S. Ramadorai has been presented with the "Distinguished Achievement Award" for the year 2001, by the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. The award, according to its citation, recognises Mr Ramadorai's "significant and substantial contributions to business and society in general and the software sector in particular and innovative leadership of exceptional nature."
Ratan N. Tata, IISc's President of the Court, presented the Award at a
simple and dignified private ceremony at the IISc campus Guest House on Friday, 21 March 2003. Mr Ramadorai is the first recipient of this award (instituted in 2001).
Mr Ramadorai's other recent awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indore Management Association, India in February. During 2002, he was honoured with CNBC Asia's prestigious 'Asia Business Leader of the Year' Award, as well as the 'Management Man of the Year' award by the Bombay Management Association. The same year Consulting Magazine (USA) named him as being among the Top 25 Most Influential Consultants in the world, the only Indian CEO on the list. He has also been honoured with the position of 'Honarary IT Advisor to Qingdao City', People's Republic of China.
