Live Operating Environment

The Live Operating Environment is a service composition that aggregates a number of services to provide a resource-oriented programming model.

The Live Operating Environment is available both in the cloud and on a device. The version of the operating environment in the cloud is accessed, during this community technology preview (CTP) release, at https://user-ctp.windows.net. The version of the operating environment on a device is accessed at http://localhost:2048.

The Live Operating Environment provides the following capabilities:

    * A common set of storage, data, synchronization, and communication services that are exposed to developers as HTTP endpoints.
    * A layered interaction model in which both a low-level, protocol-based layer and a high-level, library-based layer are available to satisfy the needs of developers with different programming preferences and skills.
    * A hierarchical, system-agnostic model to access resources.

The Live Operating Environment provides software-plus-services to enable wide-scale collaboration, including sharing resources. These resources include data and applications. The Live Operating Environment seamlessly synchronizes data and applications among users and devices.
