NIT-C training in industrial automation

KOZHIKODE: The Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT-C) is organising a five-day training programme on 'Industrial Automation' from the January 27 at its campus near here.

Since automated systems and embedded system are gaining popularity in modern industry, knowledge about industrial automation becomes a must for electrical and electronics engineers. Well-trained engineers in process automation are having good demands, both inside the country and abroad.

With this intention, Industrial Power group under Electrical Engineering Department is organising a training course on Industrial Automation.

The target group of the course would be fresh graduates and final year B.Tech students from electrical/electronics/instrumentation branches.

This finishing school is designed to give advanced knowledge in industrial automation, PLC, DCS, SCADA and embedded systems. The Process Automation laboratory, under the Department of Electrical Engineering at NIT-C equipped with all the modern and sophisticated equipment for industrial automation, is one of the best among the similar laboratories in India.

With its state of the art lab facilities in industrial automation, the institute offers hands on training in addition to the lecture sessions. The last date for registration is January 20.

Apprentice training

The National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), has invited applications for apprentice training from diploma holders in computer, mechanical, civil, electrical, commercial practice and ITI certificate holders in electrician, carpenter, plumber, fitter, machinist, mechanic motor vehicles and Programming and System Administration Assistant (PASAA) based on the Central Apprenticeship Act.

Interested candidates who have passed the qualifying examination after August 1, 2006, may report for interview on January 20 with all original certificates at 9 a.m. at the office of the Department of Training and Placement. For details contact, 0495 2286601.

NIT-C to conduct workshop

KOZHIKODE: The National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), will organise a workshop for the preparation of a detailed project report on the nationally coordinated project on 'Development of tools and techniques for modelling and analysis of world-class manufacturing systems' on the NIT-C campus, near here, on Monday.

The workshop is sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education and the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme.

A. Subash Babu of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, and G. Srinivasan of IIT, Madras will provide guidance in the preparation of the project report.

Faculty members from Government engineering colleges at Thrissur and Kannur and NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad, will participate in the workshop.

The industry participants include Roots Industries Ltd., Coimbatore, and the Kerala Tiny and Small Industries Development Council, Kannur cluster, a release here said.
