Intel has persuaded Adobe to help it port Flash tech for its media processor, the CE3100. The CE3100 is a system on a chip (SOC) device intended to be used for set top boxes, digital TVs and other devices.

Intel will ship the first CE3100 supporting Adobe Flash Lite before the middle of the year. The idea is to provide a way to create Flash applications that will work not only on laptops but on TVs too.

This move is part of a cunning plan both companies have called the Open Screen Project which will eventually allow web browsing for TVs, set top boxes, phones and other consumer electronics devices. Twenty companies are backing this idea
