Varsity to offer courses in electrician, welding

The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD) of the Bharathidasan University will offer two certificate courses in electrician (three months duration) and welding (two months duration).

The main objective of the courses is to facilitate rural artisans, youth or drop outs possessing adequate experience in the trades, but without any valid certificate for the employability. Both men and women with minimum age of 18 years are eligible for joining in the courses. There is no maximum age limit, says a press release issued by the Director of IECD, K. Parthasarathi here today.

The release said those interested should appear at the IECD, Bharathidasan University Khajamalai campus in the city between 9 and 6 p.m. on any working day from December 29 to January 8 for registering their names free of cost.

The candidates should produce birth certificate or ration card or voter identity card in support of their age.

Those selected would be admitted to the course.

The course fee would be Rs.3,000 for electrician and Rs.8,000 for welder, payable in two equal instalments.

The courses would commence on January 19 and would be conducted on all week days.

On successful completion of the course, the IECD would issue the certificate and also guide the candidates for getting placements both in India and abroad.
