Bank issues 5,000 credit cards in one day

MYSORE:
Cauvery Kalpatharu Grameena Bank has issued 5,000 general credit cards (GCC) on a single day through its 210 branches spread across seven districts. The bank's head office is in Mysore. It has brought 7,40,406 families under "no frill savings bank account'. A press release from the bank has said that the Reserve Bank of India, in an effort to bring all families under the umbrella of banking facilities, has introduced a novel scheme, Financial Inclusion. The scheme envisages identification of families that have no access to banking facilities and extending banking facilities to them by opening 'no frill savings bank account' and credit facilities in the form of general credit card (GCC).

With a view to covering more families, the bank launched a drive on December 17 and issued 5,048 cards on a single day.
