Aided school teachers want pay panel recommendations implemented

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Government Aided Private School Teachers and Employees Federation has urged the government to implement the pay structure recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission for staff of aided schools.

In a release, honorary president of the federation T.R. Seshachalam said that the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission should be implemented for staff of aided schools as done for employees of the Union Territory.

The government should implement the 100 per cent grant and pension for the entire service for all aided schools staff. The senior scale and assured career progression benefits should be sanctioned, he said.

The federation said that the qualified teachers from Standard VI to VIII should be upgraded as school assistants grade II, and aided school staff should receive earned leave encashment and children education allowance.

Among other demands, he said that salary should be sanctioned on the last working day of each month, provision of grant for higher secondary sections as in other States and Union Territories, and sanction creation posts in the aided schools as approved by the Education department. The federation has decided to stage a protest demonstration on December 17 and go on a relay hunger strike from December 26.
