SBI adopts four girls

CHENNAI: The State Bank of India, Leather and International Branch, Kilpauk, adopted four girls studying in the Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Choolaimedu, as part of the bank's "Adoption of girl child" initiative.

V. Hemalatha, V. Prabhavathy, U. Ayesha Siddique and N. Revathy were presented with cheques of Rs.5,000 each as education assistance. They will continue to receive assistance under the bank's Community Services Banking Scheme, subject to their academic performance. All the girls have only one parent. The District General Manager of the bank, G.S. Subramaniam distributed the cheques.
