PALAKKAD: An Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing factory of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. (AVP) will open at Kanjikode, near here, on Monday. The factory, of international standards, will be inaugurated by K. Radha Unni, Chief General Manager, State Bank of Travancore, Kerala Circle.

AVP Managing Director P.R. Krishna Kumar said the new factory might be the first of its kind in the Ayurvedic sector in the country and the entire pharmaceutical sector in Kerala. It was constructed as per WHO, GMP and U.S.-FDA norms.

The international quality standard of Class 100 cleanroom has been introduced in the factory. Each range of products has separate areas that are divided by room panels. The air in each area is cleaned with the help of separate AHUs fitted with HEPA filter. To prevent cross contamination, human and material crossing is avoided. Air in one room will not mix with that in another room. Centralised air conditioning provides constant temperature inside the factory, preventing quality change owing to temperature variation, he said.

Seventy types of products will be manufactured in the factory. These include soft gel capsules manufactured by the AVP and introduced for the first time in the State. Mr. Krishna Kumar said the Rs.40-crore turnover company was on the path of development in manufacturing, treatment and research with the introduction of the new unit that has WHO approval.
