The Bangalore-based Sophia High School is sixty years old, and to mark this momentous occasion, the School has arranged a diamond jubilee celebration on December 18 at the Sophia auditorium, 6 pm onwards.

Former Chairperson of the Akshara Foundation, Rohini Nilekani will be the chief guest for the function. Jayanti, Provincial Superior, Sister of Notre Dame-Southern Province, and Gita Narayan, an alumni of Sophia and founder director of the Mallya Aditi International School will be the guests of honour.

As the School authorities put it, for 60 years since its birth in 1949, Sophia had traced its spiritual, educational and social trajectory along a winding road, with unexpected challenges and tremendous opportunities. "Hers is a history marked by progress - progress in access, approachability and excellence, for the ever-increasing segments of the population of Bangalore."

The School, they recalled, had "made investments in toil, spirituality, education and service to shape a sturdy vessel to carry her collaborators - students, staff, parents, society and the management - to new lands and life-changing opportunities." According to them, the  jubilee celebration was only a reminder of the responsibilities ahead. "Her (Sophia's) search is not finished. She has many more hills to climb and more dreams to fulfill."
