Schools closed after rain

TUTICORIN: Continuous rainfall in the city since early morning necessitated the district Collector to announce closure of all schools here on Monday. As a result of the downpour, many parts of the city remained waterlogged. Road traffic moved at snail's pace owing to water stagnation in low-lying areas of Boltonpuram, Levingipuram, Threspuram, Anna Nagar, Raja Gopal Nagar, KVK Nagar, Kurinchi Nagar, Sathya Nagar, Bryant Nagar, V.E. Road and W.G.C. Road. The sky remained overcast. Rainfall in mm – Tuticorin 13.2, Vedanatham 10, Kadalkudi 7, Ettayapuram 4.5, Sathankulam 3, Tiruchendur 3, Vilathikulam 3, Ottapidaram 2 and Keelaarasaradi 7.
